Open Question: can a CMA become an ER tech?

i will be finishing my medical assisting program in 2 months and certified hopefully in 3! i want to work the midnight shift at a hospital. i have heard that it is a bit difficult for a medical assistant to get in at a hospital! if thats the case as a back up do i qualify as an ER technician?? also would that be benificial for me as a CMA ??
