Open Question: Landlord suing for rent I was recievening foreclosue letter under her name at home?

So I was receiving Foreclosure letters at a place where I was renting ( not under my name the owners name) I received 4 letters in total I was there for one year. So i decided to leave cause I was stressed that the home went under and I was going to be kicked out ( I have two little ones to worry about). So I gave the owner my thirty day notice and I let her keep my deposit. I recieved 4 letter in a one year span that I was there renting. The first letter said she was 2000 behind the 2nd letter said she was 4000 behind the 3rd letter said she was 6000 behind and the final letter I received said she was 8000 behind. All the letters came from the lender and people were Wells fargo was leaving notes on the front door to call ASAP! I had asked her to show me a letter from the bank to show he was not loosing the home and that I would pay the balance. She NEVER gave me one and said to disregard the letter that the mortage payment was being applied wrong ( a compound acct). So she is taking me to Small Claims court to pay 800.00 from rent The balance left that the deposit did not cover. NOW my questions to you is what can I do to fight the claim against me? Do i have a case for me to fight back I have two of the four letters with me. She did give me permission to open her letters because she didn't know what it was and she is also a real state agent if that helps with an answer thanks .
