Open Question: property renovation for profit?

I am 17years old and I am really interested in getting into the property ladder at some point, whether it be now or 10yrs time. The problem is, I don't really understand how it works. i.e Mortgages. If anyone could explain could they leave me their email or any advice here? thank you
