Open Question: Should I have called my employer after not hearing back from them?

I never heard back from this fast food place I was applying for and I was wondering if I should have called them back just to clarify the situation or hopefully get hired if they forgot about me. I feel really regretful about it since I feel like they would have given me a chance if I called back since I'm showing initiative and the desire to work there.
