Open Question: If you get a check with two names on it who will cash it?

My husband and I just bought a house and our landlords (from rental) returned our deposit with both our names on it. The problem is we have our own bank accounts and not together. Can either my husband or I deposit check or do we want to contact our landlords to make a new check with just one name?
