Open Question: A question for subway employees?

I recently got a job at subway, and with the job I thought I'd be getting free sandwiches, turns out this isn't true and it's eating about $2.50 out of each of my shifts(This was established to me in a contract I HAD to sign when I got the job). Is this typical of subway? I ask only because I've never heard of this happening to anyone else before...
