Open Question: Why do people buy crappy new houses?

Houses built in the 1950s and 1960s aren't made from crappy plaster with paint on it, no sir. They were built with quality and built to endure. I have a 13 year old house and I punched a hole in it with minimal effort. A house built in the 1950s would have broken my hand. Like the cars of the past we have lost our ability to built quality products (especially when all our products are soulless, cookie cutters without any personality). Don't even get me started on the toxic drywall found in modern houses....
