BUJUMBURA (Reuters) - Burundi's year-on-year inflation rate fell to 14.9 percent in December from 16.4 percent in November, due to lower food prices, the country's statistics board said on Tuesday. The food index fell to 16.9 percent in the twelve months to December, down from 20.0 percent in November, data from the Institute of Economic Studies and Statistics(ISTEEBU) showed. The statistics board has in the past warned that rising inflation would continue to threaten the tiny central African nation if prices of essential commodities including food remain high.
