Open Question: The USPS damaged my package, is it easy to get money back? I have the tracking number.?

I mailed a cell phone to an individual that bought it and it arrived damaged. I shipped it well. Has anyone gone through the procedure of trying to get their money back? Was it easy? Did you succeed? I did insure it for the real value but buyer won't help me they just want a refund.
