Open Question: Allowances and W4 - Tax Withholding Question?

I wanted to switch and pay my federal tax on an annual basis. Up to now, I always claimed 4 allowances on my W4. At this point, I want to submit a W4 to my employer where as little as possible or no tax is withheld. They adviced me that 10 allowances was the lowest, and that it would mean no taxes taken out. My salary is less than 50k, BTW. Does 10 allowances sound about right? Please post only if you know. Thx !!
