Open Question: I wonder if you can help answer this question..?

I have just been watching a mini-series called Upstairs, Downstairs which was very entertaining. It got me thinking though.. What happened to the concept of a "servant"?I know (from the series) that it was around until 1930 but what happened after that. Can you still go in-service these days? I look up job vacancies (not that I want to be a servant lol!) and tried to write in domestic servant, maid in big house etc and nothing came up. Can yu go "in-service" these days? you********************* ********************************************** Incidentally, when did it stop?
